When viewed from north of the equator, the sun rises and sets further northward during the fall until December 22nd where it rises and sets at the same spot on the horizon for 3 days. On December 25th, it rises for the first time at a more southerly position, signaling that the Earth is tilting back on it's axis. This is why the pagans AND the xtians celebrate the birth of "The Saviour" on Dec. 25th. The Sun is the "Light of the world" and the return of spring means life through the new growth that will occur.

This is also why Easter Sunday is never on the same day. Easter is ALWAYS the FIRST Sunday, after the first full moon AFTER THE SPRING EQUINOX

Sounds delightfully pagan, doesn't it?
