Requisite disclaimer: I liked the movie.

The bad guys in this film - Multi National United, which might as well have been Generic Evil Corporation - tried to vivisect the protagonist, and didn't even think to strap him down first. Said protagonist had cheerfully fried prawn eggs with a flamethrower in a previous scene.

Meanwhile, you've got all these Nigerian gangsters running around acting about as cartoonish as the voodoo cult in Live and Let Die - yet somehow the film is supposed to be a powerful anti-racist statement. Huh?

Then you have the old "Go on without me!" "No, I won't leave you!" bit at the end - the hoariest of old chestnuts known to film.

If District 9 is high art, Metal Gear Solid 4 is Shakespeare spliced with Rembrandt.
