8. I don't understand those bashing this movie.
First, take some responsibility here. You know what QT's movies are like by now. You've seen "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction". There will be blood. So, if that offends you, don't go. Second, the tone of "Basterds" is deliberately unrealistic. It's an intentional comic book. The violence isn't realistic. The history isn't factual. It's "Terry and the Pirates." So, if that kind of dramatic license isn't understandable to you, or offends you, don't go.
As for the long cafe scenes, I appreciate a film that takes its time to build the suspense. I loved those scenes. Again, taking in conversation is a leap for some viewers. They should stay with Chuck Norris movies.
As for those who have actually been in combat being offended by the comic book violence in this movie, I can't speak to that from personal experience. Perhaps that is a legitimate complaint. My son, an active duty Marine with 3 combat tours, liked the movie. Perhaps some soldiers and Marines can separate their experiences from moviemaking. And some can't. That's understandable.
