213. I believe
that Blackwell will fold under pressure. He doesn't have Oliver North's composure under fire. (Remember the SNL skit with Shatner as "the mute Marine?" Ah, that was funny.)

Grab some popcorn, kiddies; it's going to be a seven-reel serial. First, we get to see the back-and-forth over whether the DOJ will actually appoint a prosecutor. That could happen if enough public pressure is brought to bear ("Why haven't they appointed a special prosecutor? What are they afraid they'll discover?") Then we get to watch some more back-and-fill maneuvering from our favorite song-and-dance man, complete with those inspiring and informative press releases from Carlo "no relation whatsoever to Baghdad Bob" LoParo. All of that before Blackwell even testifies.

And the actual testimony! All bets are off. I wouldn't be surprised if he's initially quite pompous and evasive, and then crumbles as he realizes that his bullshit excuses just aren't going to fly in this venue. He'll probably end up contradicting himself and try to shift most of the blame to others once he's been backed into a corner. By this point, he may well have convinced himself that he's an innocent/injured party, and he'll come across as a puppy trying to convince you that he really has no connection whatsoever to that large puddle in the living room. He's been *good* for the state of Ohio, really he has, and none of this was his idea, he was just following orders. He was an impressionable young girl... you get the idea. Man, a Blackwell "apology" would be a dead cert for the Countdown apology hall of fame... and I sure hope Prince Harry coughs up an "apology" before the 20th. I'd dearly love for KO to have an excuse to run the apology hall of fame, with the Nixon impeachment stuff, on Inauguration Day!
