enough Republicans from both the House and Senate join in to vote in favor of the challenge or enough Republicans from both the House and Senate are absent to give the Democrats the majority of votes while still having a quorum present.

Based upon some information from yesterday, this is not a likely scenario, but is entirely within the realm of possibility because apparently there will be many Republicans skipping the tallying of the electoral votes today.

To be quite honest, I'm shocked that the possibility actually exists now.
