Send in the lawyers and fight it in the courts. (while privately screaming "fraud!" to anyone who would listen.) Rove had his attorneys waiting just in case his plans for stealing this one were ineffective.

The big question is, what would the media do? They'd be all over this story 24/7 if it was the ruling party crying foul.
