U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, D-Miami, was licking his political wounds as head of U.S. Sen. John Kerry's Florida presidential campaign on Wednesday over lunch with friends at Joe's Stone Crab in Miami Beach.

The congressman had made the Kerry campaign a full-time job.

Before the election, he was confident his candidate would be successful.

''Apparently the people of the state of Florida spoke, we have to agree with that, even though we may disagree,'' Meek told the Watchdog Report.

He has yet to take back his words.
