But I don't know whether or not we're getting Kerry's motives right. You think he's on our side and he's dropping judicious hints. I think he's just stringing us along in a "good cop/bad cop" kind of way, with the Republicans as the "bad cops."
Meanwhile the wholesale swindle of the American people and evisceration of the middle class continues apace under both Democratic and Republican administrations.
I hope you're right, but it's generally best to hope for the best but prepare for the worst. The fact that powerful Democratic contributors refused to fully fund Air America Radio, for example, tells me a lot about their real motives.
Think about it. Twenty percent of the electorate identified itself as liberal in the last election, compared to 33% which identified itself as conservative, and we still don't have a national presence in the media. Even without factoring in the bad rep the word "liberal" has gotten compared to the good rep of the word "conservative" you've got a huge potential market here. This is compared to the glut of right-wing televison, radio, and print media. By such numbers alone this is a market that can be built on and expanded very easily, especially since we tend to live in centralized urban areas.
This makes the logistics of such a network of media partners and allies very easy to work out.
This is one thing that tells us a lot about their real motives.
