33. BTW...
That was my son who posted the original message here for me. I left very early this morning and wasn't sure if any news media was covering the event.

There were 5 TV cameras on the main floor of the council chambers when I got there this morning, and several more showed up later to cover Jesse Jackson's speech. Many media had left by 12:30pm. There were a couple of regular folks using camcorders (myself included), and everyone was quite accomodating. The guard at the entrance said that the council chambers was filled to capacity (400 people) and by the time the forum was called to order it was standing room only. The spectators were quite subdued until Maxine Waters began her speech. She got a fantastic standing ovation and the end of her comments.

David Cobb was very passionate in his speech today, no pontificating about the plight of 3rd party candidates this time. The crowd gave him huge applause, and he is one of few speakers who actually acknowledged the spectators and gave a peace sign.
