I agree with myschkin (post 156)--the letter is good--BUT cool it down in the end. Editors are very sensitive to verbal excess and will quickly categorize it as too extreme. In print media, you can still be forceful without being fiery (fiery tone is better used for speeches to fire up supporters). Also limit the use of CAPS. --------------------------- Here is suggested edit of the last few paragraphs: ---------------------------
I'd like to finish by saying that it would be a great tragedy if the citizens of Ukraine are allowed to have a recount to verify that their recent national elections were valid, while the citizens of the United States are not granted that same right.
Can it be that America, the Beacon of Democracy, is a nation where the President is decided in an election where the votes are counted using proprietary software, by 3 corporations that have both criminal records and heavy financial ties to the Republican Party--and after one CEO, Walden O'Dell, has openly boasted that he would deliver the electoral votes of Ohio to Mr. Bush?
Please aid those Congressional Representatives who are calling for an investigation into the highly questionable reported vote totals in several key swing states, especially Ohio and Florida.
American citizens deserve at least the same rights as Ukrainians to a fair and verifiable election.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME
