Shop for a Cause--Support Macy's Employees -- Saturday, April 25, 2009-- 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.


Action: Please give an hour of your time at one the the store locations below to hand out balloons and leaflets to shoppers and tell workers we support their cause. We will have t-shirts or some other insignia to show we are from the Alliance for Retired Americans.


RSVP: By clicking "reply" to this e-mail and leaving your name and phone number and at which of the three stores below you will join us, or calling the PSARA office 206-448-9646 and leaving that information. We need your phone number to contact you. You will receive an e-mail or phone call on Friday 4/24 confirming whether we are proceeding as planned, if there are changes and particulars of where to meet, etc.


Background: Workers in Macy stores are beginning contract negotiations and expecting very hard bargaining in this economy. In order to get a fair contract, workers need our help to let Macy's know that the community is with them--and the community shops. The United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 21 has asked for our support. Local 21 has been a strong ally of PSARA, so we want to be there in force.


Board members of PSARA will be available at each of the three stores to help facilitate and provide rides if you leave the message that you need a ride in order to participate.
