Rachel and I are back home in San Antonio. We made 20 courthouse stops from Tuesday morning to Friday afternoon. The last stop of the week in Menard at 4:30 Friday afternoon was courthouse stop #152 in the 254-county whistlestop tour. We reached from Burnet in the hill country outside Austin, to Wichita Falls and Vernon on the Red River and points in between. Everywhere we went, we were greeted by hospitable and receptive welcomes. Special thanks to all the steering committee members, county Democratic chairs, and county government officials who organized the welcomes all along the way. Another special thanks to the friendly reporters of the independent press who covered this week's tour.
