2. There is a Difference
Jim Jeffords changed to an Independent while he was in office. He did not wait until the last day of registration to declare his change. At least the Republicans had/have a change to run someone against him in the next election. What Alexander did was cowardly and wrong. If he had changed in time enough for the Democrats to pick a strong replacement I would not have had a problem with it, but since he waited until the last day to change I call it betrayal.
