10. Good question. "Who would run for his seat?"
Bill Gluba was the Democrat who ran against him in '04 and has said that he intends to run again. There are a few people around here who have a few reservations about him, but he is most certainly a fairly well known person, not only because of his recent candidacy, but because he has experience in the Iowa state legislature and he is a very successful local real estate agent. His name and picture are on "for sale" and "sold" signs all over Davenport and Bettendorf. He carried Dubuque last time and will no doubt do so again. So I would say that he may be the best bet for Dems. There is a guy named Mike Whalen who is considering a run for the seat as a republican, should it become vacated. Whalen has no political experience but is a very successful businessman and will have the RNC backing him because he is currently on a task force with president bush examining how to kill...er I mean overhaul Social Security. For those unfamiliar with him, think Heart of America Restaurants. He has a nice little empire going for himself in about four states, maybe more.
