Going for broke for a stamp

A bid by Torrance groups to honor Japanese-American World War II veterans with a postage stamp is one step closer to reality.

An Assembly Joint Resolution, authored by Chinese-

American Assemblyman Mike Eng, D-Monterey Park, was unanimously endorsed by a key committee Wednesday.

The resolution urges the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee of the U.S. Postal Service to approve a commemorative postage stamp honoring the 30,000 nisei - second-generation Japanese-Americans - who fought against their parents' homeland.
