Nonsense. People understand one another everyday whether they have

similarly experienced heartache, discrimination, or hardship or not. You sell human nature short. Just because some people are short on empathy and understanding, it does not follow that everyone is.

As to the choice to identify more with one race or one ethnic group over another, I beg to differ. Many of my friends and many more the children I have worked with have done just that. Others feel comfortable bridging the distinctions in their own way. They ALL feel stigmatized at one time or another by BOTH or ALL of the groups. For you to make the claim that "white people know who's white and who is not" is either a mere obvious statement or a decidedly broad based racist statement in itself.
