11. I think your paranoia is understandable, but your assertions are wrong
First of all, "they" don't WANT the White House right now. BushCo's legal machinations -- signing statements, FISA bill, etc, ad nauseam -- were about ensuring his policies and powers remain largely intact even after the GOP loses direct control of the government. He has hog-tied the next president in a way we're only just discovering.

And why don't they want the office again? Envision a locomotive steaming full speed towards a cliff as two engineers fight over who gets to take the next shift running the train. The smart guy will pretend he wants it just enough to be able to tell the boss he's a good company man -- but had to bail out just before the rig plummeted to it's demise. The more qualified engineer, while a brilliant railroad man, couldn't do a damn thing to stop the train once it passed the point of no return. Obama's that man. He's being set up to be the brave, proud engineer. And after the train goes down, he'll be blamed for taking it over the edge. The democrats, and a black democrat in particular, will be set up as the scape goats as the still-republican-owned media asks "How did things go so horribly wrong so fast?" They'll answer themselves "Must be those democrats!" And then Jeb will be ready to save the world in 2012/2016.

So then, why no just say it's going to be a huge victory and be done with it? That one's simple...because it's going to be a huge victory, and they know it. The networks don't show you the shocking conclusion to their tv shows in the promos, they just show the exciting stuff so you'll tune in -- only to find that Horatio catches the bad guy one more time, just as you knew he would. It's pure promotion. The cable news shows have minuscule audiences. They cannot afford to have a single one of us tune out. So they're staging a horse race.

It's really that simple, imho. Of course...I could be wrong.
