There is a good chance, however, it is not done. The government closed its case against Rezko with a witness that claimed to the jury he was being shaken down for alleged bribes by Rezko frequently, and he also claimed to have bought his state post through Rezko by making hefty campaign donations. Oops. Campaign donations?
Obama did nothing wrong in the instance of his pastor. However the fallout was brutal. This could or could not also happen with Rezko. If it does, it will be ethical shallowness at a minimum.
Unsubstantiated rumors are thick. An excellent example of this: The CBS TV affiliate in Chicago is speculating that Tony Rezko may try to cut a deal with prosecutors in his ongoing corruption trial. If so, it could spell trouble for others.
