jump in if he feels he should jump in, and without regard to current polling.

His people are veterans on the campaign battlefield and know as well as anyone and better than most that polls fluctuate and circumstances change.

Senator Clinton enjoys a strong, first-place position right now.

But the real campaign for the nomination hasn't even begun. If HClinton wins in Iowa and New Hampshire, I feel she is almost certainly going to win the nomination.

But what if Senator Obama or Senator Edwards or Senator Biden wins in Iowa, and what if the same person or one of the others defeats her in New Hampshire?

That is equally conceivable.

Gore has policy reform on his mind, and public restoration of respect and dignity to the Oval Office. If he jumps in it will very possibly be on principle alone and not because Hillary Clinton is beating Romney in some poll.
