file which I just listened to:

"Republican party chairman Ken Mehlman spoke in his Washington office. We've also extended an invitation by the way to Democrat Howard Dean."

There's no mention of a series, or of a report tomorrow from Howard Dean, or of anything indicating that Dean has even replied.

If Dean ducked an invitation from NPR to defend Social Security on its morning news show, which is heard in every U.S. city several times per day -- and it appears that he has -- I'd like to know why.
