43. Big blunder
Lieberman was really the first major sitting Democrat to wag his finger at Bill Clinton and claim the moral high ground. By bringing Quisling Joe onto the ticket, Gore was distancing himself from Clinton, and the rest of the campaign was a dismal series of acquescences to the reactionaries.

Clinton was popular at the time, and blowing off an asset was simply foolish. Arkansas could have sealed that election even with outright theft in Florida.
