I've look at the responses made after Jim Robinson posted the OP and there were some obvious nuggets of truth within the usual pile of homophobic crap, the tired "Democrat Socialist" garbage, the insinuation that only Republicans have guns (I own several and have had them for years) and other sordid insults.
Yeah, that stuff is as tired as watching John McCain muddle through a speech or childish as a Palin speech.
The point is that the Republican Party needs to purge ALL of the people who think they represent the Republican Party. First, get rid of those idiots on the radio... Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly and all the other impersonators. You guys have to have better talent than them! Come on!
Then there's the Republican "leadership". Asshats like Boehmer, Graham, McConnell, Hatch, Gingrich... OK, just about all of the ones who think they are "important" are EXACTLY who the Democrats want to keep right where they are.
Alluding to Ronald Reagan, who was clearly helping bring Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden up in power and is responsible for much of the deregulation that led to our troubles at hand, might work for clueless old codgers who have voting against their own interests, but is absolutely the wrong face to put on the Republican Party if it has any chance of survival.
You see, the Republican Party is dying. It's shrinking into a small region that doesn't even cover the Bible Belt fully.
As a friend of mine who is a Republican and has access to the RNC, he has stated that the Republican Party is "in the woods". He's a moderate on social issues and conservative on fiscal issues (like most moderate Democrats) and is sick of how the Religious Right has taken over the party, dictating theocratic nonsense that our Founding Fathers would find appalling.
Look. While I didn't like all he represented, I (and many Democrats) fully admire Barry Goldwater. He didn't care about what gays did or whether they were in the military... as long as they could shoot straight, he noted. He was against government intrusion with a Libertarian view. Where's the new Barry? Nowhere in sight...
Some of the responses to my OP pointed out that perhaps there needs to be a new Conservative Party. If it's one that tells the Religious Right to keep their quitter Sarah Palin and their theocratic propensity to bugger off, then there is hope for conservatives.
Otherwise, prepare to lose handily in at least the next few major election cycles.
Good day... and good luck.
I have no idea if it got posted or whether I got banned immediately.
