but in fairness, it's quite possible that he has sleep apnea. I have it, and before I got a CPAP, I would often nod off, no matter what I did to try to stop it. Sleep apnea creates a situation where you never really get into deep sleep. Instead, you briefly wake several times an hour (sometimes 50-100 times) and you go through life totally sleep deprived, and not really knowing it.
