I do not see this in the context of the Warren debate at all. It predates Warren's ascent on the national radar in the first place, and is wholly separate.

Frost. Angelou. Those are important names and it is a deep disgrace that most U.S. high school students are h anded diplomas without reading, or without seriously considering, one syllable of either poet's life work.

Young folks in "Old Europe" tend to know American authors and poets and playwrights. Our own kids have no clue.

Good for Barack Obama to insist that this matters, and on top of that, it sounds as if he chose his poet very well.
