Again, I left a lot out in my OP, so when I remember something that I think DU would like to hear, I'm updating. Also, GDP is so fucking ugly right now, I'm kicking this positive thread back to the top.

The 3 teachers I mentioned above (the ones from Maine) were so politically savvy and knowledgeable, I thought that may just be DUers, and asked them if they were. They had never heard of DU and asked about it. I told them about it, and suggested they join, but please, wait at least a few weeks because it's rather embarrassing here now with the partisan wars.

We made nice-nice with quite a few people (all really wonderful) throughout the evening, and in any setting like that I always plug DU and encourage them to check it out and join. Except for that one moment with the teachers (because I suspected wrongly that they were members) I didn't even think of plugging DU, because it is downright embarrassing right now.
