7. Sexism
Edited on Tue Nov-27-07 10:45 AM by Onlooker
The fear that a woman can't win has permeated politics for a long time. There are always excuses. The common excuse among Democrats is that she can't win, that somehow she has less of a shot than the overserious, Kerry-like Obama or the man-who-couldn't-even-win-his-own-state-for-Kerry Edwards. No matter who is the nominee, it's going to be a tough race. Edwards will be labeled as a greedy ambulance chaser; Obama will be marked for his inexperience and his middle name "Hussein"; Hillary for her insincerity and god knows what else. But, it's terrible to see Democrats and liberals exploiting each candidate's weaknesses as a means of pushing their own. I'm supporting Kucinich, but will have no trouble supporting any of the Democrats later on, and the more I see sexism raise its ugly head, the more I'm tempted to support Hillary. She has as much chance of winning as anyone. She has her strengths, and she has her weaknesses.
