2. They aren't misconceptions
They are memes that the right-wingers want to propagate. They can take any individual characteristic or personality trait and whip it around to make the left the subject of ridicule. What was their reaction to Al Gore's Nobel Prize? Wow, look at him, he's put on a lot of weight, kinda chunky there, Al!

The idea germinates in the boil on Limbaugh's ass, travels up to his mouth and out over the airways to infect the general public. It gets picked up and repeated by the other right-wing blowhards so that it can be heard in quadraphonic clarity at any hour of the day. Hillary is shrill; Obama went to a madrassa; Edwards has pretty hair (and we all know pretty and capable are mutually exclusive). There is no way to win; ignore their childish taunts and they continue like a 4-year old in the cereal aisle, respond in any fashion and it gives them undeserved credibility.

The victory of style over substance was complete when Katy Couric ascended to the post of network news anchor. No longer would facts be presented and issues discussed, but inane meme after inane meme would be spoken in a serious tone, while at the same time hiking up her skirt to show some more leg.

This is the same press that told us that George Bush was a serious candidate, why he was bilingual and reached out to Hispanics. Years later the evident truth is made clear by Vicente Fox, who revealed all in his autobiography. How, indeed, could the press have held that misconception? :silly:  :silly:
