JFK said Ike allowed a missile gap to grow between the U S and the U S S R during his presidency... This proved not be the case...However there is ample evidence that JFK believed it to be true because intelligence estimates were so flawed...
That being said, I don't think anybody would deny JFK was a centrist/internationalist on foreign policy/defense issues but to compare the man who came up with the framework for Medicare and Medicaid with the man who (Reagan) wanted to dismantle the welfare state is fucking libelous,...
