43. He said Jerry Brown wasn't fit to stand on a stage with Hillary, and said it in a debate

This flap came up over allegations that her law firm had unduly benefited from Arkansas Government work.

Here's a fun example of Bill being above it, especially when one takes into account that he's talking about Jerry Brown. He said it's a "typical thing to say (by) a person who doesn't respect the fact that women can have their own world and do their own jobs."

Playing the gender card is a tough habit to break. That's just downright nasty and ugly, and when one remembers that he's referring to Jerry Brown, that just makes it ridiculous.

The ads he ran in Florida against Tsongas depicted him as being against Social Security and not very supportive of Israel. I still can't find any quotes...

Clinton had the advantage of pulling away from the pack early, so he didn't have to knock down his primary opponents so much. When imperiled, though, he got mighty mean.

Where these idiotically incorrect bits of history come from is interesting for speculation, but to conjure an image of Bill Clinton as a gentle and saintly lamb is hagiography at it's silliest. The only reason he didn't attack more is that he was the frontrunner for virtually the whole race, and that's what frontrunners generally do. No big kudos for decency here, and none for innovation either.
