145. Wow. I just made the 200th rec. Your post is superb. So much could be accomplished if the PEOPLE
would sit down and talk to each other.

Hate and fear those who you do not know. To quote Rodgers and Hammerstein: "You've got to be carefully taught".

Did anyone hear the NPR program -"This American Life", this past Sunday. An Iraqi vet told his story about joining the Muslim student organization when he came back to the states and went to college so as to change his negative mindset about Muslims. It was AMAZING!!!!

It seems to be so obvious that those in power tend to benefit from the status quo..both financially and by keeping their power intact.
Conflict helps those in power and does nothing for those whom those in power "inspire" to actually go to war.

I believe that another example of this is the Israeli/Palestinean conflict. The actual people would prefer peace. It is the power mongers that benefit from the conflict, as is true here in the US.

DIVIDE AND CONQUER applies just as well to politics as to actual war.

I believe that is why those in power are so against face to face meetings of those with opposing views...why they refuse to let those with opposing views to even come to the rallies of the "faithful"...heaven forbid there might be some civil conversation and someone might hear something that touches them.
