What is our official excuse for not having an organized effort to demand Bush's resignation?

We all know that the "centrists" have lots of excuses for not fighting Bush with impeachment- but what is the official excuse for not having an organized effort of big name DEMS-and all other DEMS on TV- demanding his resignation?


It doesn't require votes, it doesn't take time away from the floor of congress, and the majority of Americans would agree with it.

If DEMS mentioned it every time they were on TV, it would force a national conversation about whether Bush's actions call for resignation. (Hint- most Americans think they do)

I know that in reality the "centrists" are either just too timid or not savvy/smart enough to do it right, but I'm just curious- what is the official excuse for not at least calling for Bush to resign?

The call might go something like this:

"We realize that impeachment would (Insert time-worn excuse here). We don't want to have to drag the country through that. That is why we demand for Bush to resign, for the good of our nation, so that Republicans and Democrats in congress can get back to work and not be bogged down by all these scandals...blah, blah, blah..."

Now I KNOW it wont happen, but I'm just curious as to what the excuses are for why it wont.
