92. He's not really right-wing...
He did initially back the Iraq war, when many people in the UK had the sense to oppose it from the start; but he turned against it fairly early on. He is a strong and courageous voice on behalf of refugees and asylum seekers, who are often badly treated in Britain and a target of the tabloid press; and he is rather to the left of the Blair government on most economic issues. He is also openly gay and a supporter of gay marriage, which would probably not have made him terribly popular with some of the people on that cruise.

William Buckley OTOH is a right-wing NUT; if he seemed sane compared with many of the cruise members, that says it all.
