in their midst--McCain, Hagel, Ron Paul, even Colin Powell. They are all either used, smeared or otherwise marginalized--but never allowed to reach the highest levels of power. Bob Dole was the last prominent GOPer veteran they seemed to respect, but that was before the Neocons took control. And of course, any Dem veteran was clearly a fraudulent coward or didn't see enough action to merit any credit for their service.
