Let me explain that crappily written thread title.
Some definitions I've made up:
'Gut' liberal: a person who instinctively takes a liberal position on most things, without even having to think it through. It centers mostly on reaction to policy rather than its impact on real people.
'Heart' liberal: Pretty close to a 'gut' liberal, but distinct in that in comes more from an emotional concern for people rather than policy.
'Head' liberal: Takes a position only after having given a matter a great deal of thought and/or done a great deal of research.
I recognize that quite likely no one is purely one or another of these, but broadly speaking, where do you see yourself?
