So I voted for Hong Tran in the Washington State primaries. I had to because of Cantwell's misguided backing for the Iraq invasion as well as her pro-free trade views and her inaction of Bush's Supreme Court nominations. I felt I had to send a message. Unfortunately, it has not been the result I was looking for. It is very likely that Maria Cantwell will get the victory. I will vote for Cantwell BUT...it is as far as I will go. I will not send Cantwell money (she already has enough!) nor will I volunteer for her campaign. I won't even wear a button or post a sign up for her.

My vote for Cantwell in November does not mean I am going to support everything she does. I will praise her when she does something right and I will not stop bashing her when she does something that is detrimental to the country and to the Democratic Party like supporting or going along with the Neocon agenda like she has on some issues. So what if she has taken on Enron and Ted Stevens. Great but how about taking on Bush with the Patriot Act and Iraq? Is she going to back Bush on the pending war with Iran too?

I am posting this out of frustration over Democrats like Cantwell for enabling the Neocons further and I am sick of continuing to beat my head against a wall every election year because people keep saying. "Better not vote third party." or "He or she is the lesser of two evils.". Why do we have to go through this all the stinking time? I want somebody who is not going to be a "Cafeteria Democrat". One who is going to pick and choose an issue and fight and not do anything about the other issues. Hong Tran was the complete package and would have made a far better candidate than Cantwell. Hong Tran is willing to take on the Rethugs and not because how much money she has in her war chest. She wants to fight and that is somebody we desperately need in that other Washington.

John
