24. He is so much larger because the damage he's done is so much greater

It's not an age thing. I remember most of that, though I was too young in the Eisenhower years to be very aware of politics.

When the 2000 election was over, I said the same thing you're saying. How much damage can he do in 4 years? He'll be gone and we'll get over it. I was wrong and so are you.

He has squandered the good will of the rest of the world - and the animosity is so great, it's not likely it will just evaporate because he leaves office. It's taken on a life of its own at this point.

He has promoted policies that make saving the planet a lot dicier proposition than it was. We may be at or even past several tipping points. By the time he's turned out, one hesitates to think how many ecological critical mass limits will have been reached.

He has chiseled away at our civil liberties to a degree no former President would have dared. He has institutionalized fear to a degree the Cold War administrations didn't even imagine and used it to make any demand for those liberties tantamount to treason.

He has killed a few thousand Americans and untold thousands of Iraqis in a trumped up war, built on lies.

He has defended torture, even as he pretended to abhor it.

He has made vile character assassination the first resort in political campaigns.

The list goes on. And on. He is so much larger because the damage he has done and continues to do is so much greater.
