At least the real story finally came out.
Something about the claims of the soldiers who burned the items because they thought they were a biohazard sounds true to me, especially since this happened so soon after the beginning of the war and they probably hadn't had much practice in dealing with bloody uniforms. This must have been a horrible experience for them, too.
