very nearly won the Presidency. Only 50 people a century are their party's nominee. Only 5 0r 6 people in your generation will achieve this (if you assume a generation spans 10 years). Also unlike most people who win state wide office, he had no mentor or major media support pushing him.

So, you have what experience in running for office?

He has said that he doesn't know if he'll run again for the Presidency. He seems to be focused on 3 major things. Trying to end the war in Iraq, leaving some chance of stability; strengthening the Democratic party and being a good Senator.

If he were just focused on Iraq, he would take a more equivocal stand on Iraq. Instead he is trying very hard to convince people the it's counterproductive for us to do the policing and search and destroy. This is a very key thing to do and it would be great if Bush (even if he called it a different name, did it. His prison amendment is significant and brought additional attention to the issue. He is being a good Senator.
