23. "You all raise a serious issue; what about going negative?"
I posted this initially to blow off steam and laughter is the best medicine sometimes, for anger, frustration and...well, anger.

And plenty of policy oriented positive posts have been posted on this forum with some very good ideas. In fact we were starting to posts "positive ads" on another thread when I noticed that a few were going in the other direction and that's another reason I started a separate thread-- why not have a silly, humorous, negative ad thread. no one is suggesting these be used, and we are all pointing out one monstrous lie and failure after another, as our beloved country goes into a tail spin and hypocrites keep spouting their self righteous radicalrightwingbag message- so why not a little break from seriousness and make fun of the blatant discrepancies between words and deeds on the radicalrightwingbags.

Besides, I was traumatized, I went to a seminar last night and actually had to listen to two blow hard neo-cons lionize and drool over Tory "I wanna be Rummy" Clark, former pentagon baghdad bobbette and then some repug started in on the righwingnut talking points about Blanco not nationalizing the Guard. Ya' know, I no longer feel like I want to shut up when I stand two feet away from these douche bags, and one of them even tried to shut me up, "enough of this Monday morning quarter back stuff.." yea enough so he could begin his neocon lecture..."Ex-squeeze me?" So, I guess I decided to blow off steam with some humor. Oh yea,...by the way....I did not shut up..I have listened to these maroons on TV for almost 5 years, but when they are neighbors and ideologues in my community I have an obligation to speak truth to propaganda. Thankfully, I have taken the time to educate myself in the issues at hand and the obfuscation and misinformation is easy to refute with just a little patience and a vast arsenal of facts and truths from this forum and other sources.

But, as far as advertising there is an art to it.

I am not sure how to do it, but I now it when I see it.

I know that negative ads work:

I know that a good man who served his country in war, who volunteered to go in harms way was damaged badly by a bunch of conveniently available fatboat vets with none-too-swift memory.

I have read about the push polls, whisper campaigns, anonymous fliers outside meeting halls,

ask Dukakis
ask McCain
ask Anne Richards

whether Dem's in power will run negative ads is an interesting question. Probably not. Let the surrogates do it. But, do it.

Play nice and watch our candidate stand up for months defending his war record against a texas fly boy who's only hardship was warm martini's.
