Even though that's EXACTLY the kind of person you would want in the Oval Office -- or working on your taxes, or teaching your kids, or prepping you for heart surgery.


Yeah, I know that there is a heck of a lot more to Al Gore than the "boring" stereotype. What I find interesting is his ability to pick out a potential crisis, years or even decades ahead of most other experts (including people in think tanks or universities who are paid to do this). He zeroed in on global warming, the loss of crop biodiversity, and global telecommunications (what GWB refers to as "the internets") -- to name just a few. For most academics, being able to see the importance of only ONE of these would be a career-maker.

It's rare to find someone who's both smart AND visionary -- plus hardworking.
