15. Don Fraser is great man and a fine liberal
The first time I went to the DFL State Convention was as a delegate for his senate candidancy. He was defeated in the primary by Bob Short, a Minneapolis businessman. Broke my heart. One of big issues that was used to defeat him in Minnesota was the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (abortin and gun control also came up, of course). Fraser favored keeping it wild and that played badly in northern Minnesota.

His wife, Arvonne, is also a power in her own right.
