42 Democratic Senators voted against Ashcroft. On the Judiciary Committee, Leahy, Kennedy, Feinstein, Schumer and others voted against him. There are as many reasons to vote against Gonzalez as there were to vote against Ashcroft. According to kos, the above named Senators are leaning against voting for Gonzalez. If you have a Democratic Senator, get in touch with her/him (again) and remind them of their votes four years ago. This is not the time to let up. If Feingold is your Senator, please ask him not to repeat his mistake of four years ago when he voted for Ashcroft. These Senators need to make the same strong statement about Gonzalez that they made about Ashcroft.
