18. In my living room
In my living room watching all the major US channels showing shots of the aircraft hitting WTC 2 and the towers collapsing over and over again at about 10 or 15 minute intervals interspersed only with the media talking head anouncers interviewing retired generals, Pentagon spokespeople, "security" analysts etc., pretty well all of them pinning the blame on Osama and/or Al Quaida, and evil-doing, radical fundamentalist Muslims.

To me it instinctively had more of a feel of a gigantic psychological warfare/brainwashing exercise implimented, perhaps with the use of patsies and fall guys, by rogue elements within the intelligence services or from within the neocon/PNAC group rather than a genuine, "out of the blue" strike by evil-doing, religious fanatics acting on their own - the purpose of course being to instill fear and terror in the population in order to encourage everyone to give up civil rights without protest and to "follow the leader", however inept, bungling and unqalified he might previously have appeared to be, without question.

You had to attack civilians, the people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple: to force ... the public to turn to the state to ask for greater security.
