44. They were officially told
that "the air was safe to breathe" so they were forced to go into those buildings without even face masks, much less respirators. I doubt seriously if New York City has that much money. So it appears that the system has been dragging its feet (for almost ten years now) waiting for nature to take its course. And for many, it has.

But I guess now the government is under pressure to settle these claims, so the judge is under pressure to clear the cases. And of course the victims, themselves, would probably be dead long before jury trials could work their way through the sluggish court system and its not hard to imagine that jurors would be much more sympathetic toward these men than either the city or the court system have been or will be.

But the greatest pressure of all to settle out of court is on the sick and dying to see to it that their families are compensated before its too late, even if its only a pittance, because once they're dead, the case is closed and the families will be sh*t out of luck.

That's the "beauty" of the system we're living under. No one is ever responsible for anything.

Um, and why did that last post of yours sound like so much like a threat?
