"The presiding judge, Alvin K. Hellerstein already “hopes he will settle as many cases as possible” without going to court. Funny, here is a judge to whom trials are anathema. What could it be that he and the court system fear so much about trials?”

Courts are typically packed. Anything to reduce their workload and move cases along is probably a good thing. I was called to be a juror. While we were waiting for the voir dire, the accused attorney came in and made a deal. Judges like deals because it allows them to move cases through their court. It doesn't mean that the judge is lazy or anything else.

Finally, how do you know this judge thinks trials are anathema? Do you also know if this judge likes being libeled? There's a way to find out...
