40. I seriously doubt he said that.
Aside from the fact that the Sharon quote only appears on crazy anti-Israel (and usually anti-semitic) hate sites, you have to ask yourself, "Why the hell would Sharon say something like that out loud, even if it was true?"

Besides, we don't ALWAYS back them no matter what. Bush Sr. demanded that Israel stop building settlements in the West Bank or he wouldn't renew Israel's loan guarantees, (which Israel desperately needed to deal with the influx of Soviet Jews.) This is hardly how a subservient nation acts. I mean seriously, think about it. WE give them money. WE give them arms. They are reliant on US to broker peace agreements and to hold up our responsibilities in the existing one with Egypt. How in the world could Israel be considered to own America? It makes no sense at all. I mean, how would such a situation arise in the first place.

We own the world, but they own us.

Right, see, that makes no sense at all. We really don't act super differently towards Israel as any of our other allies. Unless Israel is doing something that really requires us to intercede, why would we spend political capital to constantly alter their policies? What is the up-side for America to do that?

And I realize that you might disagree with a lot of the things Israel does, but you have to realize that doesn't mean that everyone else does too. There are plenty of more likely explanations for US policy towards Israel besides, "They obviously must own us."

More likely you are looking at that statement by Roberts and misinterpreting it by taking it literally. I'd bet that he meant America almost always supports Israel in its Mid East dealings, making it seem like Israel is actually in charge. He could not have possibly meant that America is literally under Israel's control. That's stupid.
