I believe the news are an age-old battle for the hearts (not minds) of the audience.
Unfortunately spin requires counter-spin. If you see Israeli body-parts you are so shocked until you see Palestinian body-parts. People think with their hearts and guts, not with their minds. This explains why people watch what they watch on TV.
We are merely semians.
I personally prefer indulging in Chomsky. But Chomsky's dissertations and disections are simply not for mass consumption. There is emotion hidden underneath so many facts that it almost impossible to 'feel' the data. I like Tikkun but it is more spiritual than activist. It requires you to actively 'explore' the symptoms in perspective.
I'd prefer to post something other than the usual blurbs but they simply don't lend themselves well to discussion. I have seen your attempts at looking at things from a bird's eye view (how they indeed should be judged) but they didn't go as far as they should. The board is plain not a focus group.
