City mastermind of gun trafficking crew gets 12 years in the state slammer

The admitted ringleader of a gunrunning network was sentenced to 12 years in prison Tuesday for bringing at least 50 weapons into the waiting mitts of city gangsters, including the gun that was used to kill innocent Tamrah Leonard at a block party two years ago.

Trayle Beasley, 30, of Trenton, admitted April 25 he was the mastermind of the network that brought myriad guns, including a AK-47 assault weapon, from the Eastern Shore of Virginia to Trenton, Attorney General Paula T. Dow said.

n pleading guilty, Beasley admitted that he had people in the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where he grew up, to sell or give him guns which he brought to New Jersey to sell illegally.

He chose to deal in revolvers because they do not leave shell casings at crime scenes, said Peter Aseltine, Dow’s spokesman.
