Will concealed-carry in public places become a cause on campus?

Students at Texas State University in San Marcos (just down the road from Austin and the University of Texas) are organizing to allow the lawful carrying of concealed guns on campus. Texas State has developed a recent history of rather populist causes; some 18 years ago it was a center for direct actions regarding the legalization of marijuana. Now, former Marine Michael Guzman is leading the fight to bring lawful concealed-carry to campus. His concerns are not with the mass shootings, but with the more prosaic crime of robbery, assault and rape.

A larger question may be: Will the effort led by Guzman move from the "gun politics" of state legislatures to the streets and sidewalks of public institutions? What do you see in your area? Gun control groups have floated their "gun-free zones" with little to show for them, and they do not offer any other solutions except high preventive security on campus and the end of the "open university." (Do we really need another addition to the national security state? )

OH, wait, the Brady Campaign yesterday (Chicago's "super" T.V. station) did propose banning 100-round clips.
