That's absolutely correct. That shouldn't be the case. In most places, however, you can own firearms, and many do. What sort of firearms should be available to the entire population is a matter of interest, for sure. In most of this country, one can purchase and own semi-auto rifles and carbines that would be suitable for military-type action. I believe that should be legal everywhere. Full-auto or select-fire weapons, on the other hand, perhaps not. Our firearms laws should be uniform throughout the country, in my opinion, but some regulation of firearm types seems appropriate.
